With houses ranging from vacation cottages to waterfront spreads, inventory is tight.

A winter storm that brought snow, ice and mayhem to the Southeast should spare Long Island the worst, but still bring heavy rain and strong winds overnight along with coastal flooding.

The programs, SNUG — guns, spelled backward — are run by local nonprofits in Nassau and Suffolk but overseen by the state. They target youth, typically between the ages of 14 and 24, who are at risk for gun violence.

The number of new daily cases in the state on Thursday was 49,027, she said, compared to a record 90,132 on Jan. 7. "That is a very positive trend. And I believe we will be able to keep that going," she said.

U.S. Attorney Breon Peace, the top federal prosecutor for Brooklyn and Long Island, on Friday announced the appointments of several veteran prosecutors to his leadership team.

Police in Utah investigating an incident between Blue Point native Gabrielle Petito and Brian Laundrie had probable cause to arrest Petito but didn't, and categorized the incident as "disorderly conduct" when it was "domestic violence," the report said
